16k for a bmw with 200k KMs on it.. I'd have to haggle down on that a little

The price is in line with a clean retail example, but I would worry about the mileage and that SMG transmission.

No desire for the smg. Talk about buying a headache.

Mileage + SMG = CP

CP because black and SMG.
Black, silver and grey tend to command cheaper prices and SMG is another resale hit on value

Discriminating by color and trans status?
You're a horrible person.

For starters it was relatively rare equipment for a few years on a BMW leading to parts being scarce and more expensive than typical BMW parts which are already not cheap. It has relays that malfunction enough that some owners keep ready spares and a pump which is notorious for leaking.
Then it's behavior is just odd. My friend who had one (and BTW he liked it) described it as having to 'drive around' its issues. These included bucking, slipping, and stalling. I imagine it's all stuff you'd get used to...but why on earth you'd put up with that and pay the higher maintenance costs is beyond me when there's a perfectly serviceable and more common manual trans.

SMG pump is very expensive to replace when it goes out. Might be NP if its already been replaced though. But still doesn't have 3 pedals.

Traffic, hills, and no experience.

Fair enough, but with experience, traffic and hills are no problem.
